A BRIEF HISTORY OF OSTEOPATHY
Osteopathy was developed out of Allopathic Medicine (modern medicine) & was founded in the 1800's by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still (MD)
A.T. Still was trained as a doctor and surgeon in America. After losing several members of his own family to spinal meningitis, he was disappointed by “modern” medicine for not having the ability to save them. He spent the rest of his life studying human anatomy to discover alternate ways to heal the body holistically.
Osteopathy is based on the following principles;
Classical Osteopathy is heavily rooted in the origins, teachings & founding philosophy/principles of Osteopathy developed by Dr A.T Still (MD), which looks at the person, their condition, the body and how everything is connected and interrelated as a whole.
There is no generic formula for treatment, instead each person, each treatment is assessed and treated on an individual basis.

Osteopathy is based on the following principles;
- the body is a complete unit, body, mind, and spirit
- the body has the innate ability to self-heal as well as self-regulate
- the structures of the body and the functions are reciprocally interrelated
- rational treatment of the body is based on the understanding the prior 3 principles
